Our AIOP course will provide you with all the theoretical knowledge and practical experience you'll need to work as a successful professional organizer.
Unit A: Introduction to organization
The Basics: An introduction to the inspiring and rewarding field of professional organizing. You'll learn what organizers do, the types of people who use organizing services, and in what ways organizers can help their clients.
Key Organization Principles: Learn the fundamental principles of organizing. You'll learn how to choose your starting point, how to achieve order, how to assess the value of your clients' belongings, and more!
Unit B: Floor planning and space planning
Understanding Floor plans: Learn how to draw floor plans and accurate scale drawings. These skills will save you time and energy since you can test your ideas with a detailed floor plan, before rearranging any furniture.
Space Planning: Learn about balance, visual weight, and scale. You'll learn how to make your clients' homes both organized and beautiful with these important design concepts.
Please note that Unit B is an optional unit. Students who aren't interested in the design aspects of organizing may skip this unit without penalty.
Unit C: Organizing the home—room by room
Learn how to implement the key organization principles throughout the home. Discover the wide scale of movable and fixed storage solutions available at your fingertips. Declutter and sort each room in the home creatively and effectively. You'll also learn how to create activity spaces by identifying the “true function” of each room.
Unit D: Client interactions
Client profiles: understand the differences in personality of various client profiles and how to recognize and deal effectively with each kind of client
Working with clients: learn how to create and maintain strong client-professional organizer relationships
The professional organizer: learn how to conduct consultations, draw up contracts, and invoice your clients
Unit E: Business (optional)
Starting your own business: an introduction to key business concepts and terms—learn how to plan and set up your own professional organizing business
Marketing and promotion: an in-depth look at the tools and techniques available to promote your business
