Home staging is a marketing tool used by homeowners and real estate agents to prepare a house for sale. On average staged homes sell up to 3 times faster than an un-staged home. Home staging is a proven means to get the quickest possible sale of your home while encouraging buyers to make their highest offers. By staging your house you will make it more appealing to the widest audience possible. Decorating a home to live in and preparing a house for sale are very different and therefore require different skills.
Having grown up in England my younger years were spent doing various administration jobs. I emigrated to Canada 10 years ago and while pregnant with my third child decided to take up a hobby to pass the time. I found I had an interest and a talent for tole painting. Once I mastered the technique I began to sell my hand painted wares at various craft sales and have been very successful. Once child No 4 had come along and was off to kindergarten it was time for me to go back to work. I was lucky enough to have a friend who was a real estate agent. I worked as her personal assistant and occasionally had the opportunity to help her measure properties which meant I got a chance to see what they were like inside. I had never heard of home staging until that point. When I saw the transformations that could be made I was hooked and I knew it was something I could do. Having reached my forties it was time for me to do something I really enjoyed. The home study course I chose gave me all the insight I needed to get me started. I loved learning about all the different room styles from the colours of the walls to the lighting and accessories. It's really great helping homeowners transform their homes ready to sell.
