Help your clients come up with a list of essential daily chores. Done every day, these won\u2019t take much time at all. They\u2019ll save your client from a wasted weekend and keep your client\u2019s space under control. Try adding chores like:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Washing the dishes<\/li>\n \t<li>Sorting the mail<\/li>\n \t<li>Making the beds<\/li>\n \t<li>Wiping down kitchen and bathroom surfaces<\/li>\n \t<li>Doing a ten-minute tidy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_%E2%80%A6_and_which_ones_can_arent\"><\/span>2. \u2026 and which ones can aren\u2019t<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\nAs soon as a daily chore list becomes too long, your client will have difficulty keeping up with it. After a long day at work, a quick five-chore checklist is manageable\u2014but add a few more chores to the list, and suddenly things change. Help your client figure out where they can (temporarily) cut corners in their cleaning process.\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Pick_spaces_to_be_messy\"><\/span>3. Pick spaces to be messy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1580\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/shutterstock_293156150-e1469039587522.jpg\" alt=\"messy desk\" \/>\n\nWhat\u2019s that? Willingly welcome disorder into your home? That\u2019s right. Above all else, professional organizers have to be practical about their clients\u2019 needs and lifestyles. No house looks like a show-home all the time\u2014messiness happens, and it can even be good for you. Home offices, closets, and junk drawers are all spaces where a little mess is okay. As long as your client can find everything they need, it doesn\u2019t have to look good.\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_One_in_one_out\"><\/span>4. One in, one out<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\nThis can be a hard rule to stick with for the clutter-prone, but it\u2019s a good way to cut down on disorder. Every time your client buys something new, they have to get rid of an old equivalent. New jeans\/pillow\/mug purchased = old jeans\/pillow\/mug tossed. Your client can still bring new things into their home, but this rule keeps a cap on the number of possessions floating around at any time. Plus, it can help save them money\u2014every time they think about buying something new, they have to decide if it\u2019s worth saying goodbye to an old favorite.\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Store_things_where_you_use_them\"><\/span>5. Store things where you use them<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1581\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/shutterstock_383657029-e1469039661918.jpg\" alt=\"vacuum cleaning\" \/>\n\nIt seems simple, but many people can get overly optimistic when they\u2019re organizing. The basement closet might seem like the perfect place for your client to store their vacuum since it\u2019s out-of-the-way. But keeping it locked away down there might mean that a) your client neglects to vacuum because they don\u2019t want the hassle of getting it out, and\/or b) when they do use it, they don\u2019t put it away. Help your client be realistic about their storage.\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Make_it_fun\"><\/span>6. Make it fun<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\nSome people love cleaning and tidying; they find it satisfying or relaxing. Unfortunately, most of us don\u2019t\u2014that\u2019s why your clients contacted you in the first place! Washing the dishes, decluttering the hall closet, or cleaning the bathtub may never be fun for your client, but they can work on ways to make chores a little more bearable. Putting on music or a movie while you tidy can make a big difference for some. For others, a little reward is all it takes\u2014maybe they\u2019ll decide to treat themselves to a relaxing night in or dinner out with friends after they\u2019re done.\n<h3 align=\"center\"><i>\nHow do you help your clients stay organized?
