As an industry professional, I look back at some of the designs that have skyrocketed in popularity, and I think to myself, <em>\u201cSeriously, will the madness ever end?\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>\n\nThankfully, over time, it finally happens! now, when I hear a client use the word &#8216;neutral&#8217;, I think, <em>\u201cNooooooo!\u201d<\/em>\n\nI\u2019m over the use of neutrals throughout the whole home. In fact, I&#8217;m pretty excited that bolder color are beginning to trend. It&#8217;s just so sterile and lifeless!\n\nThese days, we&#8217;re starting to see it being replaced by <a href=\"\/2016\/09\/1804\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two-toned kitchens or black kitchens<\/a>. As a nice bonus, they&#8217;re also being paired with a change in appliance design colors! These days, people seem to opting instead for emptied candle jars with metallic lids. I feel like one moment, they weren&#8217;t a thing, and then the next, you couldn&#8217;t turn around without seeing a million of them.\n\n&#8220;Family Rules&#8221; signs, bathroom signs, laundry room signs, single-word wooden signs that say something like \u201cDream\u201d or \u201cHome\u201d &#8211; the list goes on!\n\nI\u2019m ready to see more creative design elements. Give me something that&#8217;s specific to the family themselves, instead of something so generic. To me, this is without a doubt the <em>single\u00a0<\/em>trend that should NEVER have become a trend in the first place &#8211; let alone a\u00a0<em>comeback\u00a0<\/em>trend!\n\nGrowing up, I distinctly remember a pair of very scary owl eyes, peering out at me in our living room from a macram\u00e9 hanging wall treatment that my mother so proudly made back in the 70&#8217;s. But beyond those scary owl eyes, I recall thinking, <em>&#8220;I don\u2019t understand her attraction to this ugliness.&#8221;<\/em>\n\nAnd, well, I still don\u2019t.\n\nSo, when it made a comeback, I was speechless. Can we please just leave it as the ball of yarn it started out from?
